The Cattlemen's Livestock Commission Co., Dalhart, TX, reported receipts of 2,350 head of cattle Aug. 25, compared with 1,158 head last week and 1,796 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Amarillo, TX.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers under 600 pounds were $4 to $6 lower; over 600 pounds, $2 to $3 lower. Slaughter cows and bulls were $2 lower. Trade and demand were moderate. Bulk of the supply was medium and large frame 1 to 2 350- to 800-pound feeder steers and heifers. Feeder cattle accounted for 96% and slaughter cows and bulls 4% of the run. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 56% of the run and heifers 44%. Steers and heifers over 600 pounds totaled around 65% of the supply.
