The Colorado feeder cattle auction summary for the week ending Dec. 8 totaled 20,479 head, compared to 10,357 head the previous week and 15,886 head one year ago, according to the USDA Market News Service, Greeley, CO.

Compared to the previous week, steer and heifer calves were uneven, ranging steady to $3 higher. Northern Colorado markets were steady, to $2 lower at La Junta auctions. Yearling feeder steers and heifers were mostly steady, in a limited seasonal supply. Receipts included nearly 52% steers and 48% heifers. The supply included 25% over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 300 to 400 lbs., 119.00 to 134.50; 400 to 450 lbs., 111.00 to 121.00, few, to 125.00; 450 to 500 lbs., 105.50 to 114.00, few, to 119.00; 500 to 550 lbs., 101.00 to 111.00; 550 to 600 lbs., 95.50 to 103.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 89.50 to 98.00, bulk, 91.50 to 96.00; 700 to 750 lbs., 88.50 to 92.85; few, 750 to 800 lbs., 86.00 to 90.00. Medium and large frame 1 and 2, 300 to 400 lbs., 111.00 to 120.50; 400 to 500 lbs., 95.50 to 113.00, mostly 98.00 to 105.50; 500 to 600 lbs., 93.00 to 102.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 88.00 to 94.00.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 300 to 400 lbs., 107.00 to 115.00; 400 to 450 lbs., 96.00 to 108.00, mostly 99.00 to 106.00, 450 to 500 lbs., 93.00 to 102.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 88.00 to 95.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 85.25 to 89.85; 700 to 800 lbs., 84.00 to 87.10; few, 800 to 850 lbs., 81.00 to 83.00.
