The Colorado feeder cattle auction summary reported receipts of 4,026 head May 5, compared with 8,526 last week and 1,755 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Greeley, CO.

Compared to last week, feeder cattle and calves were lightly tested at area auctions, except La Junta feeder steers were steady to $2 higher, with the advance on weights under 650 pounds. Feeder heifers were mostly steady. Receipts included near 50% steers and 50% heifers. The supply included 35% over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 400 to 500 lbs., 111.00 to 125.00, few, to 131.00, bulk, 113.00 to 121.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 101.50 to 115.00, mostly 105.00 to 112.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 91.50 to 102.50, bulk, 92.50 to 98.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 83.25 to 88.00; 800 to 860 lbs., 79.00 to 80.50.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 400 to 500 lbs., 94.50 to 113.00, mostly 98.50 to 108.50; 500 to 600 lbs., 92.75 to 103.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 83.00 to 92.00; few, 700 to 750 lbs., 79.00 to 80.50.
