The Clovis Livestock Auction Co., Clovis, NM, Jan 12, reported receipts of 2,600 head of cattle , compared with 2,271 last week and 2,478 last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Clovis, NM.

Compared with last week, feeder steers were $1 to $3 higher. Feeder heifers were $2 to $4 higher. Slaughter cows were $1 lower. Slaughter bulls were not established. The bulk of the supply was medium and large frame 1 and 2 300- to 750-pound feeder steers and 300- to 700-pound heifers. Trade was active. Demand was good. Feeder steers and feeder heifers under 600 pounds were 60%, over 600 pounds 20% and cows and bulls around 20% of total supply. The feeder supply consisted of approximately 50% steers and 50% heifers.

Cow-calf pairs: (Per pair) Medium and large frame 1 and 2, middle age and older cows, 800 to 1100 lbs., with 50- to 350-lb. calf at side, 400.00 to 705.00, mostly 600.00 to 705.00.
