The Clovis Livestock Auction Co., Clovis, N.M., reported receipts of 1,000 head Feb. 25, compared to 875 head last week and 1,916 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Clovis, N.M.

Compared to last week, feeder steers under 600 pounds were not well tested, and those over 600 pounds were steady to $2 higher. Feeder heifers under 500 pounds were not well tested, and those over 500 pounds were $2 to $3 higher. Slaughter cows and slaughter bulls were $2 to $4 lower. Trade was active and demand was good. The bulk of the supply were medium and large frame 1 and 2, 500- to 900-pound feeder steers and 500- to 800-pound heifers. Feeder steers and feeder heifers under 600 pounds accounted for 20%, over 600 pounds 70% and cows and bulls 10% of the offering. Steers made up approximately 30% and heifers 70% of the run.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, 300 to 400 lbs., 129.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 90.00 to 91.75; 700 to 800 lbs., 84.00 to 86.00; 800 to 900 lbs., 85.00 to 87.50. Medium and large frame 1 and 2, 300 to 400 lbs., 126.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 95.00 to 98.75; 600 to 700 lbs., 86.00 to 89.50; 800 to 900 lbs., 77.00 to 78.00. Medium and large frame 2, 400 to 500 lbs., 105.00 to 108.50; 500 to 600 lbs., 91.00 to 94.00. Medium and large frame 3, 400 to 500 lbs., 99.00 to 102.50; 500 to 600 lbs., 89.50.

Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 400 to 500 lbs., 110.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 90.00 to 91.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 85.00 to 89.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 85.00 to 86.50. Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1000 to 1250 lbs., 44.00 to 47.50; 75 to 80% lean, 1200 to 1600 lbs., 44.00 to 47.50. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 47.00 to 49.50; 80 to 85% lean, 1200 to 1600 lbs., 47.00 to 49.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 45.00 to 47.75; 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 42.00 to 46.25; 85 to 90% lean, under 750 lbs., none.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 and 2, 1300 to 2200 lbs., 61.00 to 66.75; low dressing, 1000 to 1300 lbs., 54.00 to 59.00.

Bred cows: Medium and large frame 1 and 3, 3 to 6 years old, 1100 to 1200 lbs., 6 to 9 months bred, 650.00 to 680.00; 3 to 6 years old, 3 to 6 months bred, 1100 to 1200 lbs., 500.00 to 595.00; aged cows, 900 to 1100 lbs., 425.00 to 500.00 per head.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 and 3, aged cows, 900 to 1100 lbs., with 50-lb. calves at side, 700.00 to 720.00 per pair.
