The Sandhills Select Pen Show will be held Oct. 14, at the Thomas County Fairgrounds, in Thedford, NE.

This marks the 16th year for this event and is the longest, consecutive pen show in the state.

The show does not allow grooming or fitting of the cattle in any way. Cattle are shown "all natural," the way they are seen in the pasture.

Registration for the show is from 10 a.m. to 12 noon (CT) Oct. 14. Pre-registration is not required, but is helpful in setting up pens the night before. Prizes will include checks and certificates.

In conjunction with the show, an Ag Quiz Bow Contest will be held. It is open to all 4-H and FFA members. The registration fee is $10 for the first team per chapter or club entered and $5 for each subsequent team entered thereafter. Monetary prizes and plaques will be awarded to the champion and reserve teams, in each division.

For more information and a registration for the pen show and the Ag Quiz Bowl Contest, contact the Central Sandhills Extension office, in Thedford, 308-645-2267, or Terri Licking, at 308-645-2436.
