The Arkansas weekly livestock summary totaled 13,750 head for the week ending March 23, compared to 14,803 head last week and 15,458 head last year, according to the USDA market News Service, Little Rock, AR.

Compared to last week, slaughter cows were steady to $2 lower. Slaughter bulls were mostly steady. Feeder steers sold steady to $1 higher. Feeder heifers were steady to $2 higher.

The supply included 7,350 stocker and feeder calves, 3,965 yearlings, 1,280 replacement cows, 1,010 slaughter cows and 145 slaughter bulls. Heifers were 48% of yearling and calf supply.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, over 850 lbs., 37.00 to 41.50. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, over 850 lbs., 36.00 to 42.00; high dressing, 42.50 to 48.00. Lean, 85 to 90% , over 800 lbs., 35.00 to 41.00; high dressing, 41.50 to 47.50; under 800 lbs., 28.00 to 35.00; low dressing and weak cows, 24.00 to 28.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 and 2, 1000 to 2100 lbs., 47.00 to 54.00; high dressing, 54.50 to 60.50; low dressing, 39.00 to 46.00.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 300 to 350 lbs., 120.00 to 132.00 few, to 141.00; 350 to 400 lbs., 114.00 to 124.00; 400 to 450 lbs., 109.00 to 119.00; 450 to 500 lbs., 104.00 to 114.00; 500 to 550 lbs., 99.00 to 109.00; 550 to 600 lbs., 93.00 to 103.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 88.00 to 97.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 80.00 to 89.00. Replacement cows: Medium and few large frame 1, 2 to 7 years old, 850 to 1200 lbs., 2nd and 3rd stage bred, 55.00 to 65.00, few, to 77.50; short bred and open thin grazing cows, 43.00 to 53.00.

Cow-calf pairs: Medium and few large frame , 2 to 7 years old, 800 to 1100 lbs., with 100- to 200-lb. calf at side, 650.00 to 800.00 per pair; similar cows, with 200- to 350-lb. calf at side, 800.00 to 1000.00 per pair. Small and medium frame 1 and 2, 650 to 850 lbs., aged, with 100- to 200-lb. calf at side, 500.00 to 650.00 per pair, few pairs, down to 400.00.
