The Amarillo Livestock Auction summary totaled 2,290 head of cattle Jan. 11, compared to 1,682 head last week and 2,265 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Amarillo, TX.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers under 600 pounds were $2 to $4 higher, instances $5 higher. Feeder cattle over 600 pounds were steady to $3 higher. Slaughter cows were $1 to $2 lower. Slaughter bulls were not well established. Overall quality was very attractive. Trade was active. Demand was good. The supply included 61% under 600 pounds 61%, 37% over 600 pounds and 2% cows and bulls. The feeder supply consisted of 58% steers and 42% heifers.
