The Amarillo livestock auction summary totaled 1,500 head May 30, compared to 3,009 head last week and 2,110 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Amarillo, TX.
Compared to last week, limited test feeder steers and heifers were $1 to $2 lower. Slaughter cows were $1 to $2 lower. Slaughter bulls were not fully established. Bulk of supply included medium and large frame 1 and 2 500- to 700-pound feeder steers and heifers. Trade and demand were moderate. Supply consisted of feeder steers and heifers under 600 pounds 26%, over 600 pounds 69%, with cows and bulls around 5% of total supply. The feeder supply consisted of 40% steers and 60% heifers.
Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, few 450 to 500 lbs., 100.00 to 102.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 90.00 to 94.00; few 600 to 700 lbs., 82.75 to 89.00; package, 765 lbs., 80.00. Feeder steers and bulls, medium and large frame 1 and 2, few 350 to 400 lbs., 105.00 to 107.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 90.00 to 97.00; few 500 to 600 lbs., 80.00 to 83.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 74.00 to 80.50.
Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, few 400 to 450 lbs., 97.00; few 550 to 600 lbs., 82.50 to 86.25; 600 to 700 lbs., 78.00 to 82.25, part load 653 lbs., thin 87.00; few 700 to 800 lbs., 75.50 to 78.00. Medium and large frame 1 and 2, 400 to 500 lbs., 86.00 to 96.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 71.50 to 80.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 68.50 to 78.50; package, 734 lbs., 73.50; 800 to 900 lbs., heiferettes, 61.50 to 62.50.
Slaughter cows: Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 38.00 to 40.35. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1200 lbs., 33.25 to 37.00, under 800 lbs., 28.30 to 32.50.
Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 and 2, 1200 to 1700 lbs., 46.50 to 47.00.
