The Amarillo Livestock Auction Co., Amarillo, Texas, reported sales of 980 head June 27, compared to 1,417 head last week and 827 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.
Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers under 600 pounds were $10 to $12 higher, over 600 pounds no comparison available. Slaughter cows were $1 to $3 higher. Slaughter bulls not tested. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 400- to 800-pound feeder steers and heifers. Trade and demand were good.
Steers: Medium and large frame 1, lot 171 lbs., 320.00 per head; 460 to 500 lbs., 142.50 to 145.00; 500 to 560 lbs., 132.00 to 139.00; package 633 lb. calves 119.00; 650 to 700 lbs., 121.00 to 122.50; lot 718 lbs., 115.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, few 425 to 500 lbs., 134.00 to 138.00; lot 538 lbs., 134.00; lot 698 lb. calves 117.50; package 807 lbs., 103.50.
Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, lot 216 lbs., 300.00 per head; package 410 lbs., 129.00, 470 to 500 lbs., 115.00 to 116.00; 500 to 550 lbs., 121.00 to 124.00; few 550 to 600 lbs., 115.00 to 116.00; 600 to 665 lbs., 110.00 to 115.00; lot 955 lbs., 88.00. Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young to middle-aged, 1100 to 1200 lbs., with 150- to 200-lb. calves, 820.00 to 850.00 per pair; aged, 900 to 1150 lbs., with 100- to 200-lb. calves, 490.00 to 630.00 per pair.
