The Amarillo Livestock Auction Co., Amarillo, Texas, reported sales of 642 head April 13, compared to 795 head last week and 3,544 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, test were limited on feeder steers and heifers weighing 300 to 600 pounds, selling $3 to $6 higher, over 600 pounds were steady. Slaughter cows were steady to $2 higher on a light test. Slaughter bulls were not well tested. Limited receipts were due to recent rain storms throughout the marketing area, which caused wet and muddy pasture and road conditions hampering livestock movement. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 and 2, 400- to 800-pound feeder steers and heifers. Trade and demand moderate. Feeder cattle accounted for 98% of the run and slaughter cows and bulls 2% of the run. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 38% heifers 62% steers and heifers over 600 pounds 48%.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, few 300 to 400 lbs., 144.00 to 155.00; package, 450 lbs., 135.00; 525 to 550 lbs., 110.50 to 113.50; few 650 to 700 lbs., 93.00 to 97.50, package, 610 lbs., thin 100.00; lot 711 lbs., 95.50. Medium and large frame 1 and 2, 400 to 450 lbs., 120.00, 450 to 500 lbs., 109.00 to 112.50; few 500 to 525 lbs., 105.00 to 111.00, package, 581 lbs., 101.00; 625 to 675 lbs., 96.00 to 98.50; lot 720 lbs., 93.50. Large frame 1 and 2, lot 714 lbs., thin 91.00.

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1, package, 398 lbs., full 126.00. Medium and large frame 1 and 2, package, 471 lbs., 108.00.

Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, lot 334 lbs., 132.00; lot 431 lbs., 123.00; 525 to 575 lbs., 106.00 to 109.00; package, 658 lbs., 93.75; 700 to 725 lbs., 93.50 to 94.00; lot 839 lbs., 93.00, two loads, 842 lbs., fleshy 84.50. Medium and large frame 1 and 2, package, 335 lbs., 127.00; 450 to 475 lbs., 107.00 to 114.50; 500 to 600 lbs., 94.50 to 100.50, 550 to 600 lbs., fleshy 93.00 to 93.50; lot 607 lbs., fleshy 83.00.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1200 to 1600 lbs., 45.00 to 51.75, few. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1000 to 1300 lbs., 48.00 to 49.75, few; high yielding, 80 to 85% lean, 1200 to 1400 lbs., 54.75, individual. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 46.00 to 49.25, few.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 and 2, 1440 to 1520 lbs., 60.25 to 62.50, few.
