DES MOINES (DTN)--Archer Daniels Midland Company has begun construction on five grain origination and storage silos in Brazil, the company announced in a news release.

The new grain silos, which will be operational by new crop 2004, will be located in the following cities: Tapurah, Mato Grosso; Vipishi, Mato Grosso; Carazinho, Mato Grosso; Ranchao, Mato Grosso and Caarapo, Mato Grosso do Sul.

"ADM's Brazilian country elevator system is an integral part of our global processing network, delivering crops from the expanding production areas to our processing plants in Brazil, Europe and Asia," stated Paul B. Mulhollem, president and chief operating officer of ADM.

Including these new locations, ADM operates a total of 85 silos in Brazil, Paraguay and Bolivia.
