Field computers now offer single product VRA

Raven Industries, Sioux Falls., S.D., now offers single product variable rate application (VRA) capabilities on Envizio Pro field computers.

With today's rising input costs, farmers require precise chemical applications. Variable rate application capitalizes on Envizio Pro's enhanced prescription map capabilities to get more out of the field--and do it with less waste and a smaller chemical footprint.

Importing and retrieving prescription maps is fast and simple with compatibility to most ag mapping software. And since the Envizio Pro is so user-friendly, even those who have never tried VRA or similar technology, can now do so with ease.

With this feature, growers can now control their input costs more effectively by placing less fertilizer and pesticides in areas where they are less desirable and maintaining levels where they can maximize yields.

The Envizio Pro multi-function field computer puts users in complete control of their precision ag system--and allows them to reap the full potential of every phase in their farming operation.

Envizio Pro high value features and benefits include:

--Multi-functional design;

--Brilliant 6.4-inch touch-screen display;

--Integrated DGPS sub-meter receiver;

--Enhanced "Last Pass" guidance;

--3-D moving-map guidance display with multiple screen views;

--Four field patterns;

--Industry compatible technology;

--Real-time data mapping, field reports, and record keeping;

--And dual-product control.

The optional single product VRA is now available for Raven CAN bus systems or 4x0/6x0 series consoles. Accessing VRA capabilities on the Envizio Pro requires an activation key.

For more information, call a local Raven brand dealer or 800-243-5435, or visit www.ravenprecision.com.

Company adds to wheat fungicide list

BASF is strengthening its wheat portfolio with TwinLine, a cereal fungicide powered by pyraclostrobin, the active ingredient in Headline fungicide and a unique triazole. TwinLine complements an already strong portfolio wheat fungicide portfolio that includes Charter fungicide seed treatment, Headline fungicide and Caramba fungicide.

TwinLine is specifically designed to control aggressive wheat diseases, including stripe rust, with two modes of action and curative activity. Additionally, TwinLine controls multiple diseases in wheat, which results in Plant Health benefits, such as stronger stands, harvest efficiency, drought tolerance, optimum yield and minimal risk.

Field trials conducted throughout the U.S. during the 2008 season confirmed significant yield improvements with TwinLine, which outperformed competitors by two to four bushels per acre and increased yield by 10 bushels an acre when compared to untreated plots.

Labeled for barley, oats, rye, triticale and wheat, TwinLine is designed to be applied immediately after flag leaf emergence at a rate of seven to nine fluid ounces per acre with a maximum of two applications per season.

Charter fungicide seed treatment provides growers with leading-edge seed treatment technology to promote healthier seedlings that better withstand the diseases and stresses associated with less than optimum planting and growing conditions.

Monitoring system offers remote feed ordering

HerdStar, LLC, Mankato, Minn., has released its second major version of Bintrac.com.

The website, www.bintrac.com, is a web interface to HerdStar's BinTrac PRO bin monitoring system. This accurate end-to-end bin monitoring solution now allows remote access to feed bin levels, consumption, feed ordering, and feed delivery tracking.

This new BinTrac release features an all new Feed Order Desk which provides new decision tools for analyzing feed levels, consumption, and reorder amounts. Users can point and click to build a feed order and then BinTrac tracks delivery on that order. BinTrac feed level data is also available to any third party feed ordering and diet management software solution such as those provided by ISB (Land O' Lakes), Easy Automation, Prairie Systems, and Mtech Systems.

Bintrac.com monitors on-farm feed bin inventory and forecasts for the user when to order feed and how much to order. The system tracks these orders and reports whether the delivery was early, late, or on time. BinTrac also reports how much feed was delivered and whether it went to the right or wrong bin. The BinTrac Order Desk is designed to require no special experience to place an accurate feed order.

The heart of the BinTrac system is its accurate, yet affordable, load cells and mounting brackets that allow for installation without cranes on empty or filled bins. Users are able to eliminate climbing feed bins and shift the feed ordering process to a central office, thus reducing labor, increasing feed budget accuracy, and enhancing worker safety.

For more information, call 888-BINTRAC or 507-344-8005, or visit www.herdstar.com.
