MID-RANGE TRACTORS--Massey Ferguson, Duluth, Ga., expands its mid-range tractor line, the 5400 Series, with 110 and 115 horsepower models with new Tier III engines and a new hood for servicability and style. The 4-cylinder, 4.4 L Perkins engine, 4.4 L and 4.9 L SisuDiesel engines and the 6.6 L Perkins engine share multiple advanced technologies. All four engines feature common rail fuel delivery and Electronic Engine Management. Some models are also equipped with wastegate turbochargers and air to air cooling. Its all steel construction will accommodate tough trenching jobs and the many optional accessories make it very customizable for specific needs. Trenchers are now available to dig down to five feet, six inches deep and 16 inches wide, but the machine is also easily reconfigurable to use for shallower and narrower digging. A reversible chain allows users to dig while driving forward or while backing up. New removable Backfill Blades can be used on new trenchers and previous models. This new accessory easily refills trenches with a second pass of the machine. Company expands corn seed portfolio
DEKALB, St. Louis, Mo., has introduced the 2009 class of 30 new brands to expand its portfolio of top-performing corn seed products. These brands have been developed from a broad, industry-leading germplasm pool and tested under local growing conditions to provide farmers with superior performance for a proven yield advantage.
Along with diverse genetics and deep germplasm resources, the latest lineup of DEKALB corn products offer farmers a wide selection of built-in traits, allowing farmers to select the specific Monsanto trait or trait combinations best suited for their field conditions and management practices, including YieldGard VT Triple.
For the High Plains, five of the new 2009 DEKALB brands include DKC54-16, DKC55-24; DKC60-51, DKC61-33 and DKC63-14. Here is a brief description of these products:
--DKC54-16: 104 RM, YieldGard VT Triple with Roundup Ready 2; High Plains farmers can be confident that this brand will provide extremely high top-end yield potential, in addition to excellent stalks and very good roots. It has an early flowering for the maturity and offers good Goss' wilt protection for the western Corn Belt.
--DKC55-24: 105 RM, YieldGard VT Triple with Roundup Ready 2; This brand gives farmers Goss' wilt tolerance and very strong roots and stalks. It also provides considerable drought tolerance and very good drydown.
--DKC60-51: 110 RM, YieldGard VT Triple with Roundup Ready 2 Technology; Superb agronomics and defensive characteristics are trademarks of this brand, which offers reliable performance in all yield environments. It has very good ear rot tolerance overall, and an attractive harvest appearance due to good staygreen and intactness.
--DKC61-33: 111 RM, YieldGard VT Triple with Roundup Ready 2; In addition to superior root strength and great stalks, this brand also provides impressive drought and stress tolerance and a very good overall disease package.
--DKC63-14: 113 RM, YieldGard VT Triple with Roundup Ready 2 Technology; Processor Preferred; Farmers can count on this brand for tremendous, top-end yield potential and exceptional roots and stalks. It also provides very good overall ear rot tolerance.
