FARM SOFTWARE--Farm Works, Hamilton, Ind., introduces Site Pro Dispatch, which uses wireless technologies to streamline data transfer from the office to the field. Important data, such as variable rate application maps, target soil sample points and work orders can be transferred from the office to the field, without using memory cards or unnecessary drive time. Dispatchers in the office can see a live map that shows where all applicators are at any time and can monitor movement of equipment, fuel use and productivity. For more information, call 800-225-2848, or visit www.farmworks.com.

Insecticide approved for use on soybeans, cotton
Bayer CropScience, Research Triangle Park, N.C., now offers Leverage 2.7SE insecticide for use on soybeans.
With two modes of action and a broad spectrum of protection, Leverage 2.7 controls many pests, including soybean aphid, bean leaf beetle, Japanese beetle and corn rootworm beetles. Leverage 2.7 is also registered by the Environmental Protection Agency for use in cotton.
Leverage 2.7 offers rapid knockdown with long-lasting foliar and in-plant residual activity. Its new mode of action for foliar soybean insect control offers additional resistance-management.
Cotton growers can use Leverage 2.7 to control mid- and late-season insects such as plant bugs, stink bugs, bollworms and other lepidopterous pests.
Leverage 2.7 uses Stress Shield technology that protects the plant from environmental stresses that reduce plant vigor and yield. It offers surface and translaminar activity to protect both upper and lower sides of leaves.

Insecticide receives label expansion for soybeans
FMC Corporation, Philadelphia, recently announced its Hero insecticide has received an expanded label that allows it to be used to control foliar pests in soybeans and root and tuber crops.
Hero uses unique pyrethroid technology, and can control mites as well as other foliar insects. Its dual mode of action lets growers deliver a one-two punch against foliar pests.
Hero offers flexible foliar application and is approved for use to control soybean aphids, beet armyworm, fall armyworm, velvetbean caterpillar, thrips, cabbage looper, Japanese beetle (adults), stink bugs and army cutworms, and others. In addition, Hero provides excellent control of mites without flaring them.
Growers can use Hero at rates ranging from 4.0 oz/A to 10.3 oz/A, depending upon the level of insect infestation and targeted pest spectrum. Hero carries a "caution" signal word and a re-entry interval (REI) of 12 hours.

Two fungicides registered for cereals
BASF has received registration from the Environmental Protection Agency for two new fungicides for use on cereals. The two fungicides would provide broad-spectrum control of rust, head scab and other major cereal diseases.
Caramba fungicide, protects against head scab. The second fungicide is a premix fungicide product containing the active ingredients pyraclostrobin, the same active ingredient in Headline fungicide and metconazole.
State registrations or specific crop and or pest uses may still be pending in certain states.
Caramba contains the active ingredient metconazole and provides excellent activity against head scab. Already available in Europe and South America, Caramba is now available to United States growers as a solo product and as a premix with the world's strongest strobilurin, pyraclostrobin, said Jerry Minore, Senior Market Manager, fungicides, for BASF. Headline also contains the active ingredient pyraclostrobin. Caramba will be available for immediate use, pending state registrations.
The premix fungicide combines the active ingredients pyraclostrobin and metconazole. With two powerful modes of action and curative activity, the premix fungicide provides broad-spectrum activity against rust and other major cereal diseases.
Combining two robust active ingredients into one, the easy-to-use premix formulation when applied at flag leaf, offers cereal growers unsurpassed control of destructive cereal diseases while improving Plant Health--increased growth efficiency, improved stress tolerance and harvestability.
