FROM THE EDITOR
Your Journal works for youBy Holly Martin It is my pleasure to tell you about two important things going on in the High Plains/Midwest Ag Journal world this week. This week marks the first column, Growing Success, by Greg Wolf. Greg is a consultant with Kennedy and Coe, LLC (www.kcoe.com) and works to help clients of the firm navigate toward better returns in all areas of their businesses. His column will focus on helping farmers and ranchers make good business decisions. The first one appearing on Page XX reminds producers of some things they need to keep front-of-mind in the new year. And Greg knows what he's talking about. He grew up reading High Plains/Midwest Ag Journal every Saturday, so he's one of you. He understands what issues you face on your farm. His down-to-earth way of explaining important business issues makes his columns easy to read and understand. We hope his column becomes an important tool that you look forward to each month. Greg is based in Kennedy and Coe's Pratt, Kan., office and can be reached by telephone at 620-672-7476. Also this week, High Plains/Midwest Ag Journal editors will be attending the Cattle Industry Convention in Phoenix. We are well aware that many of you are home feeding and calving cows and aren't able to attend the convention. But what happens at the convention is important. Cattlemen will be discussing important issues and their decisions will help shape policy in the future. In order to help keep you up-to-date on the latest information from the convention, we will be posting updates on our website several times a day, starting Jan. 28. Go to ncba.hpj.com to follow along with the event. We will be posting pictures, summaries of speakers and stories about the hot topics. You will have the opportunity to post comments or questions. The editors at the convention will read them and do their best to get the answers for you. It will be like you are really there--except for the 30-degree difference in temperature, and the need to clean up your boots, and the crowded airport. So maybe you won't feel like you are really there, but you surely won't miss any big news if you follow along with us. Holly Martin can be reached by phone at 620-227-1806, or by e-mail at hmartin@hpj.com.
