Kansas Crop Improvement Association Scholarship

ELIGIBILITY: Kansas American FFA Degree recipients attending a four-year program or a two-year program with the intention of transferring to a university or college majoring in agriculture in the state of Kansas. Preference will be given to those applicants who have a keen interest in agronomy. In addition, the applicants should have demonstrated outstanding leadership, community service, exhibits good character and moral traits, and have excelled scholastically during four years of high school.

AWARD: One $500 scholarship, non-renewable.

SPONSOR BIO: Kansas Crop Improvement Association ( KCIA) is a not-for-profit, membership-based corporation designated as the official seed and plant part certification agency for the state of Kansas. KCIA was organized in cooperation with the Kansas Agricultural Experiment Station in 1902 to improve the kinds of corn grown in Kansas. First known as the Kansas Seed Corn Breeders Association, it was quickly realized that varietal improvement of other crops should be included as well, and changed its name. In addition to seed certification services, KCIA offers networking and educational opportunities, consulting, auditing, farm/field inspection, and laboratory testing services for the seed industry and other crop production related businesses.
