This year the application and forms are in PDF format. Although you may be able to run the application in any version of Adobe Reader. I recommend that you download the latest free version of Adobe. It is available online. This will allow you to both type into the form, as well as save the file. Let me know as soon as possible if you encounter problems at bethany.bohnenblust@gmail.com.
The time is drawing near that many young leaders must make an important decision, and take hold of the opportunity to become a candidate to serve the Kansas FFA Association as a state officer.
Students who are considering running have one task to be concerned about currently: All potential candidates must submit an "Intent to Run" form by Monday, February 16th, 2009.
This form needs to be submitted in hard copy to the Kansas FFA Office at 109 Umberger Manhattan, KS 66506 and to me electronically at bethany.bohnenblust@gmail.com. This submission does not obligate a candidate to submit an application and run, but does allow a student to move on to the next step of the process, if they so choose.
More information about applications and dates is soon to follow!
Choosing to run for an office in the Kansas FFA Association is a weighty decision that requires a great amount of time and considerations. Applying for an office also demands time and effort, as it is a detailed and involved process. However, that time and effort are well rewarded in the amount of growth all candidates receive.
The year of a state officer is a year of service. As such, the decision to run for a state office should not be made lightly or without a sincere commitment to serve. Kansas FFA officers have great responsibility to the state and their duties often require extensive travel. Days away from home and school are expected of all members of the team. While the Kansas FFA Association pays for the expenses incurred by state officers in the performance of their duties, officers routinely incur minor personal expenses that cannot be reimbursed.
Serving as a Kansas FFA officer is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. The professionalism and abilities of state officers is the result of dynamic training that enables them to effectively lead our state. In their year of service, state officers develop lifelong friendships not just with each other, but also with members across the state and country.
Students who desire to serve Kansas FFA members should consider participating in the selection process by running for a state office. The process examines the attitudes and character of each candidate and reveals the individuals who will continue and add to the success of the Kansas FFA Association.
