For the statewide service challenge, Kansas FFA Association challenges members to believe that they can make a difference by helping raise awareness for donating blood.
Recently the nation has been affected by many natural disasters- floods, the Joplin tornado, Hurricane Irene, severe storms and tropical storm Lee among others. We believe Kansas FFA can help provide relief in communities affected by these events by simply “bleeding blue and gold” and doing our part.
The service project is ever expanding and will have additional components in the spring. If you have an idea you would like to see implemented, tell us about it at ksffableedblue@gmail.com!
This year’s service project has already been under way for almost an entire month! But, with holidays fast approaching as well as school and numerous FFA activities taking place, it is hard to find spare time. So, here are just a few reminders about this year’s service project and how you can help. One of the easiest ways to aid the cause and help the American Red Cross is to purchase or design a t-shirt. Submit your design at ksffableedblue@gmail.com. T-shirt designs will be accepted until November 30th, and all profits will go to the American Red Cross. You can also help by either donating blood yourself, or helping your chapter host a blood drive. For further contest rules and information visit the Kansas FFA Association Facebook page and check out the “Notes” section. Remember, every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs some type of blood. By simply donating one pint of blood, you can save three lives! Also, don’t forget that we are still collecting pop can tabs as well! Proceeds from the tabs will also benefit the American Red Cross. Around state convention time, we will tally all of the points earned by each district!
As FFA members, we value a life of service. In fact, we truly believe in living to serve. As Kansas FFA members, we have an opportunity to put those words into action over the next few months by demonstrating acts of service through a state-wide service project! This year, the challenge is to help those affected by recent natural disasters by donating blood and helping raise money to be donated to the American Red Cross. For the first step of the project, Kansas FFA will be accepting t-shirt designs. The goal of the t-shirts is to display the theme and purpose of the project. This year, Kansas FFA will “Bleed Blue and Gold” and save lives by donating the proceeds of the t-shirts to the American Red Cross.
T-shirt designs will be accepted through the month of November. Following November 30th, a poll will be opened to accept votes on the t-shirt designs. The design receiving the most votes will be printed on our service project shirts for the year! In addition, points will be kept for each district in the state throughout the course of this project. As members, we can earn some of our district’s first points by submitting t-shirt designs! To submit your design, email a scanned drawing or electronic design to ksffableedblue@gmail.com For more information on the project check the Kansas FFA Association Facebook page.
