2013 Livestock Nomination Information and Forms

The 2013 Livestock Nomination forms and information sheets have been updated and posted the on the Youth Livestock Program website, www.YouthLivestock.KSU.edu. The only rule change to the 2013 nomination process is the requirement of Electronic Identification (EID) tags.

A few things to remember:

(1)Tag Change Policy: When an animal loses a tag, the Extension Agent or Agriculture Insturctor must contact the Youth Livestock Program via email to verify the change. Please include the family name, county, specie, original tag number, new tag number and verification sentence that this is the same animal that was nominated by the specified deadline.

(2)Livestock Premium Auctions

As most of you know, the written 4-H Policy states the following:

"4-H exhibits (including animals) sold at a public auction or privately, whether for immediate or future delivery, cannot, from the time of such sale be shown by the seller in any subsequent 4-H fair/exposition/show. This policy also applies to those exhibits (including animals) which have gone through a premium auction, or similar emblematic sale/auction (i.e. Trophy Auction, Ribbon Auction, etc.), whether or not ownership has changed. Females of all species retained for future breeding projects are included." (I4.3 Sale of 4-H Exhibits Including Animals)

Therefore, if you choose to submit the tag numbers of nominated livestock who have been through a premium auction, you can email the list to the Youth Livestock Program after the completion of your fair.

(3)Youth Pork Quality Assurance Plus certification numbers are still required for a complete swine nomination. This 8-digit number must be present on the swine nomination form in order for the nomination to be complete. I encourage you all to get your trainings completed before the June 15 deadline.

(4)Deadlines (Forms must be postmarked by the date stated) May 1-Market Beef Nominations Due (If an incomplete market beef nomination occurs, all corrections to the forms are due June 1) June 15-Commercial Heifer/Market Lamb/Commercial Ewe/Market Hog/Commercial Breeding Gilt/Market Goat/Commercial Doe Nominations Due (If an incomplete nomination occurs, all corrections to the forms are due July 15)

(5)There will be a one-time/year $10 Incomplete Nomination Fee charged to the family if any of the required materials are incomplete or missing. (Excludes invalid PQA numbers)

(6)Late Nomination Policy

If a nomination is received within ten days after the due date, the family will be required to sign and return a contract stating if they send in a late nomination in the future, they will be ineligible to show in any state shows for that year. They will also be required to be a $15 late nomination fee. If the nomination is received after the ten day window, they nomination will not be accepted.
