WLC Updates

The staff at the National FFA Organization hopes that your 2013 is off to a great start and that you, your teachers and students are experiencing wonderful things.

We here at the national FFA center are busily planning for a summer packed with tremendous experiences at the Washington Leadership Conference. The planning to this point has brought some changes we would like to share with each of you.

Due to a multitude of extenuating circumstances both internally and externally along with feedback we have received from students and teachers, some changes are being enacted that will affect the National FFA Organizations 2013 Washington Leadership Conference. Please know that the decisions made in regard to WLC have been made with thoughtfulness and care in order to best serve students.

Due to planned curriculum changes, our search for an all-inclusive, student-centric facility led us to Holiday Inn Dulles. The move presents many advantages. Holiday Inn Dulles is conveniently located, student friendly, offers a free shuttle to and from Dulles International Airport, and allows buses to park free of charge. We are quite positive that students will enjoy the hotels spacious meeting space, comfortable amenities and safe environment.

With this move you should anticipate changes in the schedule for travel and experiences in the city, access to Metro, and scheduling arrivals and departures into Dulles International airport. Furthermore with this move, we will only be able to offer six weeks of WLC in 2013. Conference dates and costs are posted on www.ffa.org/WLC.

The move will allow FFA to deliver a more robust WLC advisor program. With the proximity of the location, this will allow for the advisor program to be closer to potential agriculture-related activities.

We are looking forward to a summer that will continue to positively impact the lives of students as they are lead through a curriculum based on service and advocacy. WLC is about coming together as FFA members in our nations capital to experience new things, learn how to be advocates, and more importantly to instill servant leadership into to the lives of students whom we know will make a difference in this world. Change in location and schedule can never take away these main focus points. It is our commitment to execute this premier leadership conference in a city that means so much to all of us, and in a way that continues to exceed expectations.
