2012 Weld Central CDE Judging Contests
Weld Central FFA is excited to host the third annual Weld Central Career Development Events in Keenesburg. It is our hope to provide the best contest available to students in order to prepare them for the state contest.
K-State Animal Sciences Leadership Academy Planned for June 6-9
Kansas State University's Animal Sciences Leadership Academy is planned for June 6-9 on K-States Manhattan campus. The conference provides 20 high school students from across the state with the opportunity to learn more about leadership and production in the animal science industry. Students will receive interactive leadership training and tour facilities in K-State's Department of Animal Sciences and Industry. Participants will also tour businesses and organizations within Kansas' diverse livestock industry.
Kansas Junior Sheep Producer Day - March 31, 2012
March 31, 2012 is the date for the Kansas Junior Sheep Producer Day to be held at K-State's Weber Arena in Manhattan.

Eustis-Farnam FFA CDE Competition
The Eustis-Farnam FFA would like to announce the Annual Eustis-Farnam FFA Agronomy, Food Science, and Meats Evaluation CDEs.
Introduction to Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources (AFNR) will serve as the introductory course in the CASE sequence of courses. It is designed to introduce students to the four pathways that will be offered through CASE. In addition to a brief overview of animal science, plant science, natural resources, and agricultural technology and systems, students will explore FFA, leadership, and science in agriculture.
National Ag Day Essay Contest Announces February 1 Deadline
The Agriculture Council of America (ACA) calls on ninth- to 12th-grade students to submit an original, 450-word essay or a two-minute video essay about the importance of agriculture. This year's theme is "American Agriculture: Feeding the Future, Filling the Gaps" and the deadline is Feb. 1, 2012. The ACA asks teachers and parents to encourage student participation.
As we have done in the past, we are again providing these attachments to the major high school organizations across Kansas, in hopes the information will be shared with members and non-members alike - with anyone who may be unemployed and/or seeking employment opportunities in Kansas.
2011 Acceptable Ear Tags for KSF and KJLS
Please find the attached document stating which ear tags to use with each species for the Kansas State Fair and Kansas Junior Livestock Show. Counties have the option of using whatever tags they choose at the county level, but for state-nominated livestock you must follow the guidelines listed in this document.
