ELIGIBILITY: Former FFA members who are college juniors studying agricultural education in Kansas. Must have been a member of the Kansas FFA Association. Preference w ill be given to applicants who have keen interest in agricultural education and its importance to perpetuating the profession. Priority will be given to those students who have demonstrated outstanding leadership, community service, exhibits good character and moral traits, and have excelled scholastically during college and high school.
AWARD: One $1,000 scholarship, non-renewable. The scholarship will be paid in two equal installments of $500 at the beginning of the fall semester and $500 at the beginning of the spring semester, which will depend on satisfactory scholastic performance.
SPONSOR BIO: Rick Malir is sponsoring this Agricultural Education scholarship in honor of Jim Patry, his former Agricultural Instructor. Rick and Jim are committed to providing scholarships benefiting students in agriculture and supporting the educational opportunities for those interested in pursuing a career in agricultural education. Rick grew up on a family farm near Wilson, Kansas where he spent his youth raising cattle pigs and wheat. He served as the 1983-1984 Kansas FFA President and the National FFA President in 1985-1986.
