ICM, Inc. Joins Kansas FFA Foundation to Develop Future Agricultural Leaders
New Five-Star Sponsor to Support Leadership Development, State FFA Convention, and More
MANHATTAN, Kan. (October 2, 2007) - ICM, Inc., the nation's leading authority and advocate for the ethanol industry, today announced it will donate to the Kansas FFA Foundation to support various leadership and skill development programs, state FFA convention, and more as the foundation's fifth five-star sponsor.
With the donation, ICM will become the title sponsor of the 80th State FFA Convention in Manhattan, Kan., next spring, and the sole sponsor of the Agricultural Issues Career Development Event, which encourages students to thoroughly explore agricultural issues. ICM will also become the sole sponsor of the State Star in Agribusiness award, in addition to sponsoring the State Office Leadership Program and Leader Lab, a two-day personal development conference for high school students.
Dave Vander Griend, ICM president and CEO, said supporting the Kansas FFA Foundation makes sense because the two organizations share a common goal - sustaining and enhancing the agricultural industry and its future.
"We are excited to announce our support for the FFA and its mission of student success. For nearly 80 years, the FFA has shown how agricultural education creates personal and career success for its students," said Vander Griend.
"ICM believes in investing in our employees to create personal and career success," he added, "and through our support of the FFA, we're also investing in our future - the students! Agricultural education programs give students the tools to build their future, and we're proud to support their potential because we will all benefit from their successes."
John Niemann, chair of the Kansas FFA Foundation board and assistant vice president, business manager for Cargill Meat Solutions, said the support of ICM will help the Kansas FFA provide more opportunity to its members.
"ICM is the authority on one of the most important issues in agriculture today - using agricultural products as renewable resources. Their involvement with the Kansas FFA will provide new opportunities for students to learn about current issues, be recognized for their work, and develop the skills they need to lead this industry in the future," Niemann said.
