Portions of state get significant rainfall
Corn planted is rated at 27 percent complete, which is well behind the previous year rating of 43 percent and the five-year average of 57 percent. Stock water supplies, rated at 79 percent adequate to surplus, remain stable compared to last week's rating of 80 percent. The percent of cattle moved out to pasture has progressed to 40 percent; however, alfalfa and pasture progress are behind normal due to cool ground temperatures.

[1] Cool temperatures, wind prevail [0.8351]
Range and pasture conditions improved 2 points with 37 percent rated good and 4 percent excellent, compared with 34 percent good and 5 percent excellent last year. Ninety percent of the farm flock and 43 percent of the range flock had lambed. Eighty-six percent of the farm flock sheep and 75 percent of the range flock sheep had been shorn, about 10 points behind the 5-year average.
