Despite moderate to strong demand, trade still slow
Demand was moderate to strong for grinding alfalfa, alfalfa pellets and dairy alfalfa, moderate for prairie hay and stock cow quality hay, according to the Kansas Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, April 29. Prices given on a per-ton basis, unless otherwise noted. For the week ending April 19, 12,498 tons of grinding alfalfa and 2,200 tons of dairy alfalfa were delivered. Dairy/grinding alfalfa and alfalfa pellets steady.

[2] Livestock alert- Watch for rabies [0.8169]
It is believed that any warm-blooded animal that comes into direct contact with the rabies virus has the potential of contracting the disease. Rabies may be classified as either dumb or furious rabies. Cattle with rabies may develop an unusual sounding bellow that persists up to their death.

SILVER CITY, N.M. (AP)--State and federal representatives have told Grant County officials that initially, there will be a fairly large number of rabies cases from a strain new to New Mexico, but that the number should taper off.
