Newell sheep sales report
St. Onge Livestock Co., Ltd., Newell, S.D., reported receipts of 189 head Jan. 24, compared to 152 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D. Compared to last week, trends were not applicable because the sale was not reported. Receipts were comprised of about 67% feeder lambs, 33% slaughter ewes with the balance miscellaneous sheep and goats.

Changes to duck zones under consideration
Issues include potential changes to the state's duck zone and hunting season split configuration. Game and Parks is considering changes to duck zones for 2012. The four-zone format would better position duck season dates in the event a 39-day season becomes necessary in the future, according to Mark Vrtiska, Game and Parks waterfowl program manager.

Landowners can earn extra cash from hunting
Landowners in southeastern Colorado who open their property to hunters can earn extra cash by enrolling in Colorado Parks and Wildlife's Big Game Access Program for the 2012 hunting seasons. "The Wildlife Commission has funded the program again for 2012 to pay landowners who allow big game hunting access to their property," said Lamar Area Wildlife Manager Travis Black. The BGAP access stamp allows access to hunt to pronghorn and deer only.
