Demand for beef is growing

By Doug Rich

Consumers like beef whether they buy it at their local grocery store and cook it in the backyard or whether they head out to their favorite fast-casual restaurant and order a specialty hamburger. That is why profitability is returning to all sectors of the beef industry.

This good news was presented to members of the Kansas Livestock Association at its 98th annual convention held Dec. 2 and 3 in Wichita, Kan. Steve Kuntz, director of meat and seafood for Dillons: Keith Blanks, vice-president of national accounts for Cargill Foodservice: and Randy Blach, executive vice-president of CattleFax, were the featured speakers during the KLA Beef Industry University on Dec. 2.
