Sheep, goat grazing workshop scheduled

Lincoln University Cooperative Research, University of Missouri Extension, and Crowder College are conducting a “Grazing Workshop for Small Ruminant Producers,” June 7 to 8 at Crowder College in Neosho. One of the workshop speakers will be Frank Pinkerton, a goat researcher, author, and retired professor and extension goat specialist. USDA provides program updates to sheep industry

During their annual trip to Washington, D.C., producer leaders with the American Sheep Industry Association visited with officials from the U.S. Department of Agriculture in dialogue with officials from many of the agencies that partner with the association for programs important to wool and sheep production. USDA publishes final rule to increase lamb checkoff assessment

The final notice approving the assessment rate increase for the Lamb Promotion, Research and Information Order was published in the May 14 issue of the Federal Register. Funds collected under the Lamb Checkoff Program are used for promotion, information, research and advertising of American lamb. “The American Lamb Board requested that USDA amend the Lamb Promotion, Research, and Information Order about two years ago,” said Megan Wortman, executive director of the American Lamb Board.
