Ingredients:
2 pounds ground chuck, (80% lean)
1 cup potato flakes
1 large onion, chopped
1 cup carrots, grated
1 celery stalk with leaves, chopped
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper
1 (14 oz.) can sauerkraut, drained
2 Granny Smith apples, cored, chopped
1/2 cup water

Directions: Mix together ground chuck, potato flakes, onion, carrots, celery, salt and pepper. Form into 6 flat patties. Brown in greased Dutch oven or heavy frying pan for approximately 10 to 15 minutes. Cover the patties with chopped apple and sauerkraut. Add water. Simmer for 20 minutes, or place in baking dish and bake for 20 minutes in 350°F oven.
Notes: Excellent warmed up the second day.
