1 (29 oz) can pear halves
1/3 cup Red Hots candies
3 packages cream cheese
2 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1/3 cup coconut
1 (9 oz.) can crushed pineapple
2 tablespoons almonds, slivered and toasted
Directions: Drain pears and save the juice. Combine the pear juice with the red hots and cook until candy is dissolved. Add pears and bring to boil. Chill in syrup overnight. Blend cream cheese with milk and lemon juice, then add coconut, pineapple and almonds. Drain pears and pat dry with paper towel. Put filling in 4 pear halves spread well to edge. Top with four pear halves then chill and stand upright. Garnish with fresh parsley or watercress.
Notes: Heart shaped sandwiches look nice served with this salad.
