2 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
2/3 cup packed, light brown sugar
3/4 cup butter or margarine
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 cup coarsely chopped pecans
1 (12oz.) package chocolate chips
1 (14 oz.) can sweetened condensed milk
1 (10oz.) package toffee bits
Directions: Preheat oven to 350°F. In large bowl, stir together the flour and sugar. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add egg and mix well. Stir in the pecans and 1 1/2 cups of the chocolate chips. Reserve 1 1/2 cups of this mixture and press the remaining crumb mixture on the bottom of a 9x13 greased pan. Bake for 10 minutes. Remove from oven and pour the milk evenly over the crust, topping with 1 1/2 cups of the toffee bits. Sprinkle the reserved crumb mixture over this and then top with 1/2 cup of chocolate chips. Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from oven and sprinkle the remaining 1/4 cup of toffee bits. Cool completely before cutting. Serves 24 or more.
Notes: This is a delicious bar type cookie that our family enjoys in the fall and winter! I have found that to lower the calories, you can successfully use the "fat free" sweetened condensed milk and it is still wonderful!
