2-1/2 cups sugar
2/3 cup evaporated milk
1/2 cup margarine
1-1/2 cups semi sweet chocolate chips
1 (7 oz.) jar marshmallow creme
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 teaspoon peppermint extract
1/4 (plus 1 tablespoon) cup peppermint canes or candies, finely crushed
Directions: Bring sugar, milk and margarine to a boil stirring constantly. Boil 6 minutes or until candy thermometer reaches 238°F, remove from heat, stir in chocolate chips. Stir in marshmallow creme, vanilla, peppermint extracts and 1/4 cup crushed peppermint candy until blended. Pour into a greased 9 inch square pan. Sprinkle with 1 tablespoon crushed peppermint candy. Cool and cut into squares.
