1/4 cup butter
1 pint fresh oysters
salt and pepper to taste
4 cups whole milk
Directions: Melt butter in small sauce pan. Add oysters (with liquid). Cook and stir over low heat just until edges of oysters curl. Heat milk in larger pan. Add salt and pepper and oyster mixture. Serve with oyster crackers. This can sit awhile before serving to enhance flavors, but do not boil. This recipe can be doubled.
Notes: This is the recipe I use for Christmas eve, our family tradition is oyster stew.
