2 lbs. thinly sliced round steak
1 cup water
1 teaspoon ginger
1 teaspoon garlic salt
2 tablespoons soy sauce
3 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons corn starch
2 tablespoons wine vinegar
1 can stewed tomatoes (or 2 fresh tomatoes, sliced)
2 sliced green peppers
Directions: Brown steak in a small amount of hot oil in a large skillet. Drain. Add water, garlic salt and ginger. Cover and simmer 30 minutes. Add soy sauce, sugar, vinegar and corn starch. Thin with water if needed. Add tomatoes and pepper. Cover and steam until vegetables are soft. Serve over white rice.
Notes: This satisfies the hungry men in my family, who can smell it before coming in the back door from chores.
