Amarillo livestock sales report

The Amarillo Livestock Auction Summary, Amarillo, Texas, reported receipts of 1,010 head on Feb. 17, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.

There were not enough recent comparable sales for a market trend due to the winter storm last week, however, compared to two weeks ago’s light test a higher undertone was noted on all classes of cattle. The trade activity and demand was moderate to good. The slaughter cows and bulls made up 4%, with 1% replacements and 95% feeders. The feeder supply consisted of 43% steers and bulls and 57% were heifers. Approximately 57% of the run weighed more than 600 pounds.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, few 327 lbs., 260.00; 350 to 400 lbs., 235.00 to 236.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 225 to 236.00; 500 to 550 lbs., 205.50 to 207.00; 550 to 600 lbs., 181.00 to 191.00; lot 613 lbs., 185.00, 600 to 650 lb. calves 178.00 to 185.00; 650 to 700 lbs., 174.00 to 175.00; few 826 lbs., 160.50; few 908 lbs., 150.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, few 371 lbs., 215.00; few 445 lbs., 212.00; few 485 lbs., 190.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 175.00 to 185.00. Holsteins, large frame 3, few 335 lbs., 120.00.

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1, 500 to 600 lbs., 172.50 to 181.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 161.00 to 168.50.

Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, few 273 lbs., 220.00; few 328 lbs., 213.00; 400 to 450 lbs., 193.00 to 202.50; 450 to 500 lbs., 188.00 to 190.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 163.50 to 172.00; 600 to 650 lb. calves 163.00 to 163.50; lot 654 lbs., 160.50, 650 to 700 lb. calves 157.00 to 159.00; load 824 lbs., 155.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 350 to 400 lbs., 189.50 to 191.00; few 435 lbs., 185.00; few 495 lbs., 165.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 156.50 to 159.00; load 723 lbs., 157.00; 750 to 800 lbs., 146.00 to 149.00. Medium and large frame 2, lot 426 lbs., 170.00.

Slaughter cows: Breaking, 75% to 80% lean, 1300 to 1600 lbs., 88.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1300 lbs., 108.00; low dressing, 84.00 to 89.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, individual 1765 lbs., 116.50; low dressing, 1355 to 1600 lbs., 102.00 to 107.50.

Bred cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young individual, 1250 lbs., 6 to 9 months bred 1800.00; aged to short and solid 1100 to 1600 lbs., 6 to 9 months bred 1360.00 to 1600.00/head.
