The Pratt Livestock Feeder Cattle Auction, Pratt, Kan., reported receipts of 2,798 head on Feb. 13, compared to 732 head last week and 2,568 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared with last week’s limited supply, feeder steers weighing 600 to 900 pounds were steady to firm, except for those weighing 750 to 800 pounds that were firm to $3 higher, and 900 to 1,000 pounds that were weak to $4 lower. The feeder heifers weighing 600 to 700 pounds were steady to firm and those 700 to 1,000 pounds were steady to weak. There were not enough steers and heifers weighing 600 pounds or less for a market test; however, a higher undertone was noted. The trade and demand was moderate. There were no slaughter cows and bulls last week for a market comparison, but an extremely higher undertone was noted. Receipts covered 91% of the stock and they weighed more than 600 pounds, 4% for those weighing 600 pounds or less and 5% were slaughter cows and bulls. The feeder supply was 54% steers and 46% heifers.
