Clovis livestock sales summary

The Clovis Livestock Auction Summary, Clovis, N.M., reported receipts of 1,403 head on Feb. 12, compared to 1,636 head last week and 1,341 head last year, according to the New Mexico Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News, Clovis, N.M.

Compared to last week, stocker and feeder steers weighing less than 600 pounds were steady to mostly $4 higher and those more than 600 pounds were steady. Heifers were selling mostly $1 to $2 higher on comparable sales. the slaughter cows were $4 higher and bulls were steady. The trade was active and the demand was good to very good. The bulk of the supply was medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300- to 800-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows were 4% of the offering, slaughter bulls were 2%, bred cows were 9%, pairs were less than 1%, and feeders were 85%. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 68% of the run, feeder bulls were less than 1%, heifers were 32%, and steers and heifers weighing more than 600 pounds totaled 43%.

Stocker cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, middle aged to aged, 995 to 1335 lbs., 3 to 8 months bred 93.00 to 103.00; package 1051 lbs., 3 to 6 months bred 113.00; individual long solid mouth cow 995 lbs., 1 to 3 months bred 107.00.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young, 940 to 1320 lbs., 3 to 8 months bred 1200.00 to 1675.00/head; middle aged, 1055 to 1395 lbs., 3 to 8 months bred 1150.00 to 1475.00/head; aged, 1093 to 1385 lbs., 6 to 8 months bred 1125.00 to 1400.00/head.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, package 1065 lbs., with 150-lb. calves 1650.00/pair.
