Pratt livestock auction report

The Pratt Livestock Feeder Cattle Auction, Pratt, Kansas, reported receipts of 4,017 head on July 31, compared to 1,669 head last week and 3,100 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kansas.

Compared to last week, the feeder steers weighing 800 to 1,050 pounds were sold $6 to $12 higher and the bulk of the trade was selling $10 to $12 higher. The feeder heifers weighing 750 to 900 pounds were selling $6 to $8 higher. The trade was very active and the demand was very good. The slaughter cows and bulls were selling $2 to $4 higher. The receipts included 97% weighing 600 pounds or more, 1% weighed 600 pounds or less, and 2% were slaughter cows and bulls. The feeder supply was 71% steers and 29% was heifers.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1 8 head, 588 lbs., 263.00; 108 head, 839 lbs., 229.25; 850 to 900 lbs., 221.25 to 225.75 (224.02); 900 to 950 lbs., 212.25 to 219.50 (214.19); 950 to 1000 lbs., 212.00 to 213.85 (213.22); 1000 to 1050 lbs., 202.50 to 206.50 (204.79); 111 head, 1061 lbs., 203.10. Medium and large frame 1 to 2 700 to 750 lbs., 222.75 to 225.00 (224.46); 750 to 800 lbs., 219.25 to 220.35 (220.03); 800 to 850 lbs., 206.00 to 212.50 (207.82); 850 to 900 lbs., 210.50 to 216.00 (215.07); 900 to 950 lbs., 204.00 to 211.50 (209.65); 950 to 1000 lbs., 200.00 to 206.75 (204.86); 27 head, 1009 lbs., 196.00. Medium and large frame 2, 5 head, 833 lbs., 197.50; 850 to 900 lbs., 184.50 to 190.50 (187.82). Large frame 1 to 2, 8 head, 790 lbs., 211.50; 24 head, 843 lbs., 209.00; 950 to 1000 lbs., 196.50 to 198.35 (197.99).

Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 8 head, 631 lbs., 228.00; 650 to 700 lbs., 223.25 to 226.00 (223.69); 10 head, 727 lbs., 219.00; 750 to 800 lbs., 211.00 to 216.50 (214.11); 800 to 850 lbs., 210.00 to 213.00 (211.96); 850 to 900 lbs., 207.00 to 210.75 (208.49); 64 head, 931 lbs., 204.00; 55 head, 951 lbs., 197.25. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 500 to 550 lbs., 237.00 to 240.00 (239.67); 600 to 650 lbs., 222.00 to 223.00 (222.18); 23 head, 896 lbs., 195.50; 14 head, 953 lbs., 194.00.

Slaughter cows: Boners, 80% to 85% lean, 130.00 to 138.00. Lean, 85% to 90% lean, 116.00 to 127.00; high dressing, 131.00 to 135.00; low dressing, 105.111.00.

Slaughter Bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, high dressing to high boning, 154.00 to 161.00; high dressing, 145.00 to 147.00; low dressing, 131.00.
