Lexington livestock market report


The Lexington Livestock Market, Lexington, Neb., reported receipts of 2,715 head on Sept. 27, compared to 3,110 head two weeks ago and 4,555 head last year, according to the Nebraska Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Kearney, Neb.

Compared to two weeks ago, steer calves were sold unevenly steady and heifers calves were sold steady to $2 lower. Yearling steers and heifers were sold fully steady. The demand was good from a short list of buyers with moderate activity from the internet. Most consigners were absent from this week’s sale because they were busy with harvest. Around 450 head of slaughter cows and bulls were sold in the mix and quite a few cows went back to the country. The feeder supply included 60% steers with a large percentage of the run weighing more than 600 pounds.

Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 520 to 547 lbs., 172.00 to 177.00 (174.89); 551 to 593 lbs., 174.50 to 175.00 (174.80); 13 head, 651 lbs., 167.00; 9 head, 787 lbs., 152.50; 13 head, 844 lbs., 154.00.
