Winners shoot minus 14 in tournament raising funds for KLA PAC
A total of 168 Kansas Livestock Association members and guests supported KLA PAC by playing in the annual golf tournament Sept. 13 in Manhattan. Forty-two teams covered Colbert Hills for the event, which helps KLA PAC support candidates for the Kansas Legislature who appreciate agriculture and livestock production. When everything is finalized, the tournament is expected to raise about $15,000.
The winning team in the championship flight, shooting 14 under par, was John Farley, Matt Means, Ken Woods and Gage Zierlein. Second place in this flight was the team of Pat Forman, Roby Thayer, Ryan Beiswanger and Rick Nelson at 11 under.
Winners from the first flight were Sherri Scharff, Tom Zacharias, Dean Strasser and Mike Sieben, who shot five under par as a team. Close behind in second place at four under were Al Larsen, Jeremy White, Todd Siek and Chad Buettner.
The team of Garrett Schultz, Rodney Derstein, Mitch Beims and Travis McGuire won the second flight by shooting one under par. They bested Warren and Chris Weibert, Don Becker and Steve Mohan, who also shot one under, but finished second in a scorecard playoff.
Major sponsors of the tournament were Boehringer-Ingelheim, Tyson Fresh Meats, Kennedy and Coe and Bank of the West.
