Tulsa livestock sales report

The Tulsa Livestock Auction, Tulsa Okla., reported receipts of 3,896 head on Oct. 21, compared to 3,911 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Okla.

There are no recent test for a comparison of trends. The demand for feeder cattle was moderate. Calf prices were strong and selling to good demand, especially those that were thoroughly weaned. Offerings were very typical of the fall with a heavy influx of young calves and limited numbers of yearling cattle. The quality was average with a few termed attractive. The supply included 22% weighing more than 600 pounds and 41% were heifers. There was no recent test for comparison of slaughter cows and bulls. The demand moderate to good. A total of 823 cows and bulls was sold with 48% going to packers.
