New Cambria livestock sales report


The New Cambria Livestock Auction, New Cambria, Mo., reported receipts of 662 head on Oct. 12, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Jefferson, Mo.

A moderate crowd was on hand for this month’s special cow sale. Several small groups of both bred cows and pairs were on offer, giving buyers the opportunity to put together a nice trailer load to take home. The supply and demand was moderate.

Bred cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, few packages 4 to 6 years, 1200 to 1450 lbs., second and third stage mostly 1550.00 to 1650.00/head, few packages fancy 1725.00 to 1775.00; package 6 head 7 years old, 1293 lbs., second stage 1525.00. Large frame 1, package 7 head, 4 to 6 years old, 1554 lbs., 1700.00, package 3 head, 7 years old, 1452 lbs., 2nd stage 110.00. Medium frame 1, package 8 head, 2 years 930 lbs., third stage 1535.00. Medium frame 1 to 2, few packages 4 to 6 years old, 985 to 1100 lbs., second stage 1390.00 to 1400.00; few packages 7 years old, short solid mouth, 1050 to 1130 lbs., first and second stage 1350.00 to 1385.00.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, several packages first calf heifers 1000 to 1150 lbs., with 125- to 285-lb. calves 2000.00 to 2250.00/pair, package 6 head, 2550.00; 4 to 6 years old, 1050 to 1250 lbs., with 100- to 250-lb. calves 1835.0 to 2000.00, few packages fancier 2260.00 to 2350.00; 7 years old, short solid mouth 1750.00 to 1885.00.

Slaughter cows: Breaking, 70% to 80% lean, 77.00 to 86.00; high dressing, 89.00 to 92.00. Boning, 80% to 85% lean, 75.50 to 83.00; high dressing, 87.00 to 90.00, few low dressing, 72.50 to 74.50. Lean, 85% to 90% lean, 70.50 to 77.00; low dressing, 63.00 to 68.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, few 1600 to 2125 lbs., 91.50 to 95.00, few low dressing, 84.00 to 89.50.
