Keystone Hereford champions named

Purple Rosie 44Z and RS 45P Magnum 91Y topped the Keystone International Livestock Exposition National Hereford Show in Harrisburg, Pa., Oct. 4. Jirl Buck, Madill, Okla., judged the 134-head show.

The champion female, Purple Rosie 44Z, was exhibited by Kyle Lemmon, Manchester, Md. The March 2012 daughter of Purple MB Womanizer 14U ET was first named champion spring yearling heifer. Reserve champion female was also reserve champion spring yearling, SHF Coyotte Done, an April 2012 daughter of LCC Back N Time ET, owned by Melissa Grimmel, Jarrettsville, Md. Grimmel’s heifer went on to win the junior Hereford show on Oct. 6 and was then named supreme junior heifer over all breeds.

Chosen champion in the bull grand drive was RS 45P Magnum 91Y, owned by Lowderman Cattle Co., Macomb, Ill.; Rylee Stockdale, Dayton, Pa.; and Behrends Farms, Mason City, Ill. The bull is a May 2011 son of NJW FHF 9710 Tank 45P. Judge Buck followed with the champion yearling bull, DLL Nick of Time, a January 2012 son of CRR About Time 743 owned by Doug LeTourneau, Gallatin, Tenn.

Just like last year, Lowderman Cattle Co. dominated the group awards, being named premier exhibitor, premier breeder and exhibited best six head.
