Soybeans see modest gains

Soybeans closed with modest gains while corn and wheat had slight gains as harvest was interrupted with rain throughout the Midwest, according to the National Grain Market Summary, Oct. 29.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture reported that soybean harvest is 77 percent complete with corn near 60 percent complete.

Wheat closed unchanged to 1 cents higher. Corn traded 1 to 7 cents higher. Soybeans closed 9 to 15 cents higher.

In the futures close, Kansas City December wheat was $7.51 3/4, up 1 cent.

Terminal wheat bids, paid for truck delivery, included Kansas City, $7.51 3/4, up 1 cent; Minneapolis, $7.86 1/2, unchanged; Portland, $7.14 1/4 to $7.21 3/4, up 1/4 cent; St. Louis, $6.92, down 4 cents.

Terminal corn bids, U.S. No. 2 yellow, price paid for truck deliver, included: Kansas City, $4.22 to $4.27, down 3 3/4 to up 1 1/4 cents; Minneapolis, $4.02, up 2 1/4 cents; southern Iowa, $4.20 to $4.26, up 3 1/4 to 7 1/4 cents; Omaha, $4.22, up 1 cent.

Terminal soybean bids, U.S. No. 1, price paid for truck delivery, included: Kansas City, $12.79, up 12 3/4 cents; Minneapolis, $12.61, up 8 3/4 cents; southern Iowa, $12.72 to $12.82, up 10 3/4 to 15 3/4 cents; central Illinois processors, $12.86 to $12.92, up 9 3/4 to 10 3/4 cents.

Kansas City wheat prices Oct. 29, spot, fob track, included: No. 1 hard red winter wheat, ordinary protein, $8.54 3/4 to $9.01 3/4, up 9 to 16 cents; 12% protein, $8.86 3/4 to $9.01 3/4, up 11 to 16 cents; 13% protein, $8.79 3/4 to $8.96 3/4, up 9 to 16 cents; 14% protein, $8.79 3/4 to $8.89 3/4, up 9 cents. U.S. No. 2 soft red winter wheat was unavailable. U.S. No. 2 white corn was $4.69 to $4.74, down 1 to 4 cents.
