Ft. Smith livestock sales report

The Ft. Smith Livestock Auction, Fort Smith, Ark., reported receipts of 453 head April 22, according to the USDA-Arkansas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Little Rock, Ark.

There was no trend to report because the sale was not reported last week. The supply included 176 feeder calves; 200 feeder yearlings; 16 replacement cows; 51 slaughter cows; 10 slaughter bulls; and 0 replacement bulls. The feeder supply consisted of about 40 percent English breed and English crosses; 30 percent Exotic breed and Exotic crosses; 30 percent Brahman and Brahman crosses; and 0 percent Holsteins and other dairy breeds. The feeder supply was about 55 percent steers and bulls with 45 percent heifers.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1000 to 1500 lbs., high dressing, 74.00 to 78.00; low dressing, 64.00 to 68.50. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 950 to 1400 lbs., 73.00 to 77.50; high dressing 78.00 to 82.50; low dressing, 68.00 to 72.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 900 to 1300 lbs., 71.00 to 75.50; high dressing, 76.00 to 80.00; low dressing, 66.00 to 70.50. Light, 85 to 92% lean, 700 to 950 lbs., 54.00 to 58.50; high dressing, 59.00 to 63.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield Grade 1 to 2, 1000 to 2100 lbs., 95.00 to 97.50; high dressing, 98.50 to 103.00; low dressing, 90.00 to 92.50.
