Dalhart livestock auction report

The Cattleman’s Livestock Auction, Dalhart, Texas, April 18, reported receipts of 1,529 head, compared to 1,337 head last week and 2,295 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to week ago, feeder steers and heifers under 600 pounds were steady, over 600 pounds were steady to $1 lower. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady to $1 lower.

Trade and demand continued to be good on thin or gaunt summer grazing type calves and moderate on feeders over 550 pounds. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 350 to 950 pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows made up 14% and slaughter bulls less than 1%, replacement cows less than 1%, and feeders 86%. The feeder supply included 41% steers and 59% heifers, with nearly 51% of the run weighed over 600 pounds.

Medium and large frame 1 to 2, few 378 lbs., thin 180.00; few 404 lbs., 171.00; few 500 to 550 lbs., 154.00 to 160.00; few 604 lbs., thin 147.00; 670 to 700 lbs., 135.00 to 139.00; few 766 lbs., 133.00; few 800 to 825 lbs., 122.00 to 123.00; few 908 lbs., 113.00. Medium and large frame 2, few 468 lbs., thin 148.00.

Slaughter cows: Breaking, 75 to 80% lean, 1400 to 1900 lbs., 73.50 to 76.00. Boning, 80 to 85% lean, 1100 to 1500 lbs., 73.50 to 78.00; high dressing, 81.00 to 85.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 74.00 to 79.00; low dressing, 71.50 to 73.50; 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 74.00 to 77.50; low dressing, 71.75 to 73.00. Dairy slaughter cows, Boning, 80 to 85% lean, 1500 to 1700 lbs., 71.50 to 74.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1400 to 1700 lbs., 94.00 to 100.50; high dressing, 2255 lbs., 103.50.
