Meet Red Angus juniors in Montana

Join the fun, meet new friends and explore Red Angus in eastern Montana with the National Junior Red Angus Association.

The 2013 Junior Red Angus Association Round-Up is set against the Big Sky Country backdrop and will feature tours of Red Angus ranches, beef research facilities and the Midland Bull Test. Juniors will also compete in national contests and participate in fun activities.

JRA Round-Up is a five-day educational and leadership adventure which travels to a different part of country each year. The 2013 Round-Up begins in Billings, Mont., on June 22 and will travel around eastern Montana on a chartered motor coach through June 27.

The schedule will include Red Angus and beef-industry-related stops such as Midland Bull Test, Ludvigson Stock Farms, Lost Creek Red Angus, Rock Creek Red Angus, Milk Creek Reds, Redland Red Angus, Roberts Red Angus and Fort Keogh Beef Research Facility.

Other activities include Montana Silversmiths, Custer Last Stand Re-enactment, river rafting and the Medicine Rocks State Park.

While attending Round-Up, juniors will compete in national – Team Sales/Team Lobbying, Beef Quiz Bowl, Stockman’s Quiz, Equipment Identification, cattle judging/evaluation, Prepared Speech, Extemporaneous Speech, T-shirt Design, Scrapbook, Photography and Poster Design.

Registration deadline for JRA Round-Up is May 1, and interested juniors may register online at The registration fee is $375 per junior with a $25 discount per junior family member, and $475 per adult chaperone.

The minimum age to attend JRA Round-Up is 9 years old or the fourth grade. Juniors between the ages of 9 and 13 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Juniors 13 years age or who have finished the seventh grade may attend without adult supervision.
