Kansas Limousin Breeder Association announces summer events

Limousin enthusiasts from across the state of Kansas should be adding to their itineraries for June 1 and 2 coming to Columbus, Kan., for the annual Kansas Field Day, which will be held at the American Legion Fairgrounds.

The cattle may begin arriving after 4 p.m. on May 31 with all cattle being in place by 12 p.m. on June 1. New to the agenda this year, we are holding both the senior and junior organizations’ annual meetings, previously held at the time of the Kansas Limousin Breeder Association Spring Sale. The senior association’s meeting will be held at 3 p.m. and the junior association’s meeting at 4:30 p.m. Following the annual meeting will be a free supper provided by the association with the annual benefit auction to follow. We also will be announcing the new inductee into the Hall of Fame. This honor is bestowed upon someone who has been a great supporter of the organization over the years. So everyone should come and give congratulations to this special person. We would like everyone to try and let us know if they will be attending so we may have a count for the meal preparation. We will accept free will donations to help offset the cost of the meal.

The benefit auction comprises donated items, and new this year the attendees will have the opportunity to bid on banner ads that will be on the new website. If you have any items you would like to donate, contact Hubert Thomas at 620-224-9163 or Randy Corns at 620-750-0924 or by email at The fundraising is critical for the operation of our association; about 1/3 of the senior budget goes to supporting activities for juniors.

On June 2 there will be a free breakfast of biscuits and gravy. The field day show will begin at 10 a.m. For more information, call President Randy Corns at 620-750-0924 or Vice President KC Youngblood at 620-762-0165. There are hotels available in the area; call KC Youngblood for more information.
