Equine Health Fair set for April 28 in Dodge City

Spring has arrived and along with it comes the fun of saddling a favorite horse for a trail ride, working cattle, and traveling to horse shows. Zoetis, previously known as Pfizer Animal Health, is teaming up with the Dodge City Veterinary Clinic and several equine service businesses to host the Equine Health Fair April 28 at the Western State Bank Expo Center, 11333 Highway 283 in Dodge City, Kan. Registration begins at 1 p.m., with a series of afternoon healthy horse sessions and is free to the public.

Learn from professionals how to prepare your horse for these spring adventures and events. There will be demonstrations on using a radiograph for hoof inspection, hoof trimming to keep your horse sound, and dental teeth floating for maximum bit response. In regard to maintaining health we will look at disease and parasite management tactics and the selection of a good ration for great performance. To wrap up the event, an equine trainer will demonstrate the latest methods to warm up and stretch both you and your horse to reduce the chance of injury while riding.

Our intent as industry representatives is to make this a fun and educational experience to help maximize the relationship between you and your horse. There is something for everyone. 4-H members, horse clubs and individuals wishing to increase their knowledge on equine management are encouraged to attend.
